Safety Comes First at Great Boca Smiles

Great Boca Smiles has always been careful when it comes to keeping patients and staff safe. When the office was originally designed each room was designed to be enclosed with ventilation systems that helped keep the air fresh. Great Boca Smiles has added a UV air purifying system in 2020 that actually destroys bacteria and germs that get into the ventilation system (actual photo on the left).

Our staff has been using safety equipment including eye shields, gowns, long before Covid-19 made them fashionable. Like other dentists who care about safety, we use a dental guard to prevent materials from getting into the air by keeping the mouth covered, except where we are working. Additional measures have been added including disposable guards and materials for the express purpose of helping to protect our patients and staff.

Using the iTero 3-D scanner we were able to improve patients’ dental results with high-quality scans, and unlike a dental mold, the equipment has disposable covers and can also be properly sterilized. Nearly all of the molds, operating templates, and crowns are now manufactured in our lab without humans handling them.

The compressor for the suction which is connected to our examination rooms is a high-pressured system designed to remove particles from the air for much larger offices, plenty of power to help remove particles from the mouth and extract them safely. Great Boca Smiles now ads to that system with a second suction device that will remove even more particulates, a measure of protection you won’t see in most dental facilities.

All patients until further notice must wait in their vehicle (our parking is spacious) and will be called in and asked to wash their hands with a cleaning solution. The patient will then be taken directly into the room that they were assigned.
